Goodwin's Theory
The music video which I believe best supports this theory is 'Juicy' by The Notorious B.I.G. Goodwin's Theory is a theory which emphasises the relationship between the lyrics and the narrative which is taking place in the music video. Goodwin believes that in some music videos, the lyrics directly show what is happening on screen. The first example of this music video supporting Goodwin's theory is when the lyrics say 'It was all a dream, I used to read word up magazine'. When word up magazine is mentioned, you see the camera cut to The Notorious B.I.G. sitting in his room while reading the magazine. The second example of Goodwin's theory being supported is when the lyrics say 'Hanging pictures on my wall', you see a short shot of him hanging up the picture, which once again shows a direct relationship between the lyrics and the on screen narrative.
